ESTATE PLANNING & ADMINISTRATION
If you’re married without a plan, your spouse may not necessarily inherit your property. If you don’t have a plan, the government has a plan for you. Without a plan, the government will make all the important decisions for you. The government is not concerned about minimizing taxes, savings on estate settlement costs, or making sure your wishes are carried out.
GUARDIANSHIP & CONSERVATORSHIP
A guardianship and/or conservatorship is a legal relationship created by a court between a guardian and you, a minor child or an incapacitated adult. The guardian has power over you to make all of the healthcare decisions, including where you will live. The conservator has power over a your property to pay your bills and makes all of your financial decisions.
PROBATE, WILLS & TRUSTS
Probate and Administration are a court-supervised process of distributing your assets after your death. If you have a Will, it is called a Probate; if you do not have a Will, the procedure is called an Administration.
Medicaid is a maze of complicated government rules and regulations that pays for certain medical costs and long-term care costs.
